Term 3 Classes

The Term 3 Info Pack is now available on the website, with all the information on our new classes. Term starts next week, on July 13th for Tecoma, 14th for Tuesdays, 16th for Thursdays and 18th for Saturdays.

If you haven't confirmed your place with us yet, please do! Unless you told us at the end of last term that you were back, your place has not been held. Send us an email, or call or text us on 0433 037 085 to let us know.

Recent RUCCIS - Pitching Workshop

At 9am on a Sunday morning, 18 RUCCIS students and coaches made their way to Kilsyth to join some of Australia's best acrobats for a pitching workshop. Hemlock, Tim and Callan showed us how to flip, fly and throw each other, with fantastic results! Highlights of the day included seeing Thumpa and Tristan pitch Josie into a double backsault - well done, guys!
If you enjoyed the workshop, consider joining our new pitching class: see below

Parents and Kids Circus 4:30 - 6pm Thursdays
We're looking for parent and child duos to join in a new type of circus class. Kids aged 3- 7 can learn new circus skills together with their parent, making circus a family affair! If you've got a very young child in one of our juniors classes, consider trying this class.

Pitching, Thursdays 6:00 - 7:30
Join Circus Trick Tease's Shannon McGurgan to create a group pitching team. The class is coached by Shannon on alternate weeks, with practice of the skills every other week. Significant acro experience required - talk to your coach to see if it's right for you.

Production Open Space, Thursday 4:30 - 7:30
With production just around the corner, we are offering students the opportunity to spend time outside of classes working on group acts or polishing their tricks to perfection. Open space is supervised by a coach, but how you use the time is up to you.

Production Time!

It's here again, but this year, there are some changes to the productions. That's right, there's going to be two of them! Due to popular demand, a lot of anticipation and a lack of chairs, RUCCIS is going stereo. Both Productions will happen on the weekend of 12th and 13th of September - put it in your diary now! More info on how the shows will work will be given out in the first few weeks of classes.

Theme

We've tried narrow themes, middling themes and no theme at all, so this year it's time to try a broad theme. The 2009 RUCCIS Production will be titled: "&". This year, we want you and your class to think in a more creative fashion about your act and how you represent it. The rules are simple - every act must be titled " something & something ". Highs & lows. Round & round. Friend & foe. Over & out. Thunder & lightning. You are free to take this theme wherever you want to, and lead the audience inside your imagination. This will be discussed more in classes, but please use your holidays to think up ideas!

Production Helpers

Putting on a production is a huge task, and we need help. If you have ideas, skills, contacts or time on your hands, we want to know! We are currently looking for volunteers to help with:

Before the day:

- Finding a large black backdrop for the stage
- Costume helpers - we'll need material, sewers, and props
- Advertising - can you put a flier up at your school?

On the day:

- Operating lights / sound system.
- Backstage helpers
- Ticket Sellers
- Kitchen volunteers (selling or baking!)
- Strong people to help move the giant seats
- Photographers / Filmers to digitize the production

If you are interested in helping out, please let us know! Talk to Luth, Anna or Marnie, or drop us an email.

Welcome back to Term 3 everyone!

If you volunteer time on the front desk, you will receive a free pass to the entire convention - and it's not just juggling! There's two professional shows, and workshops running all the time in manipulation, acro, unicycle, yoga, capoeira, ballooning, and every other type of circus under the sun. See Luth if you are interested.

RUCCIS Recognitions

You may have noticed that Doogs and Josie have been missing from Tuesday classes this term. That's because they both passed the audition process to join NICA's Serious Circus class - congratulations guys! We wish you all the best for your full auditions at the end of the year for the 3 year Bachelor of Circus course!
